What to expect if your pet passes away?
Saying goodbye to your pet is incredibly difficult. Our vets and nurses will explain what will happen, answer your questions and give you the time and space you need to make the choices that feel right for you and your family.
If, after speaking with the vet, euthanasia is considered the kindest option for your beloved pet, the team will gently guide you through the process. Where circumstances allow, family members can join you and you can choose whether you would like to stay with and hold your pet as they pass away.
You’ll be given time with your pet afterwards, for as long as you need. Our team will also talk you through the options for cremation or burial. If you would like your pet to be wrapped in a favourite blanket or kept with a special toy, please let the clinic team know.
What will I pay if my pet is put to sleep?
We understand that costs and administration may be the last things you want to think about at such a difficult time. Our team will explain the costs clearly and you can choose whether you would prefer to settle the payment before or after saying goodbye.
A standard euthanasia charge will apply in addition to the consultation fee and any treatment your pet has already received. Cremation is charged separately, with costs depending on the option you choose. Your vet or nurse will talk everything through with you, so you know what to expect and have the time and space you need to say goodbye.
Choosing what happen after my pet passes away
Communal Cremation
Your pet will be cremated alongside other companion animals. Their individual ashes will not be returned to you.
Individual Cremation
Your pet will be cremated separately and their ashes returned in a casket or urn of your choice. The clinic team will contact you when they are ready to collect.
