Eliza, Rosa and James join established 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Wiltshire
Vets Now’s emergency and specialty hospital in Swindon has bolstered its clinical team with the appointment of three vets.
Eliza Brassington, who previously worked at a small animal practice in Worcestershire, has been recruited after completing a postgraduate certificate in small animal medicine.
She is joined by Maria-Rosa Lopez Colom, a Cutting Edge graduate with experience in small animal surgery and exotics, and James Checketts, who did a postgrad in Slovakia and previously worked in a mixed animal practice in Devon.
Eliza, who trained at the Royal Veterinary College, said: “This seemed like an ideal opportunity to do a meaningful vet role while expanding my knowledge in different areas.
“The night shifts certainly take some getting used to but I’m enjoying the challenge and having a more flexible and satisfying rota.
“The trauma cases are always exciting and interesting and the facilities we have at Swindon enable us to give pets the best chance possible.”
Maria-Rosa is a graduate of the University of Barcelona and joined Vets Now through its innovative Cutting Edge induction programme.
She said: “There is a great relationship between the exotic referral department and the ECC department at Vets Now in Swindon and I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to provide a high standard of care to all of our patients.”
James is also a Cutting Edge vet. He says he was “bitten by the ECC bug” at a conference in Prague in 2014.
He added: “My passion was reinforced at recent Vets Now congresses and through work experience and I’ve been keen to pursue a career in ECC ever since.
“My aim is always to achieve the best outcome for both pets and their owners and I’m delighted to have joined such a great team in Swindon.”
