Our commitment to excellence extends to our internship programs, and we are thrilled to invite applications for the Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging Intern position at our Glasgow referral hospital.

Join a collaborative environment where you will work alongside experienced clinicians and gain exposure to a diverse range of cases from our referral caseload (surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedics), internal medicine, oncology & ECC) and from our OOH-Emergency service. This role is perfect for those laying foundations for residency applications or aspiring to strengthen their general Diagnostic Imaging knowledge.

The in-house diagnostic imaging facilities include 2 digital radiography rooms, digital fluoroscopy, 2 ultrasound machines (GE Logiq E10 and S8 (cardiac), in process of being upgraded) and Siemens 32/64 slice Go.All CT. All images are stored in a PAC System and analysed using a dedicated medical image viewer (CIMAR).

Proactive engagement in training, participation in seminars, journal clubs, and local teaching opportunities is essential. Interns will actively contribute to research projects and work closely with clinical mentors.

Key Responsibilities:

– Supervised involvement in performing and interpreting ultrasound imaging cases.

– Supervised interpretation of radiology and CT studies.

– Personal studying to acquire the necessary knowledge for imaging interpretation.

– Engage in positive, informative, and inclusive case discussions and journal clubs.

– Support rotating intern and extern training in diagnostic imaging.

– Support hospital team in performing radiology and CT studies.

– Participate in the discharge Rota on Saturday mornings, with the other discipline specific interns and residents, for referral cases.

– Minimal OOH commitments at weekends and bank holidays.

What we offer:

– Salary: £35,000 per annum

– 7 weeks annual leave and your birthday off

– 12-month position

– Allocated time for externships.

– Inclusion in IVC Evidensia Diagnostic Imaging Specialty group meetings including regular case discussions and journal clubs

– Additional allowance to be used on CPD/European conference attendance

– RCVS Knowledge Library membership

– VDS and RCVS registration fees covered

– VECCS membership for one year

– A clinical mentor to support your learning pathway, internship experience and assist with research opportunities

Are you ready for an extraordinary internship experience? To apply, candidates must possess a recognised Veterinary Degree, be or have eligibility to be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Applicants must also have successfully completed a small animal rotating internship in a multi-disciplinary referral hospital.
