Operations and Facilities Assistant

Salary – Up to £28,000 DOE plus benefits

Vets Now are the UK’s leading provider of emergency pet care, providing a trusted service to more than 1400 veterinary practices – from dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. The Vets Now Pet Emergency Hospital in Glasgow provides both a first-class referral service and an out-of-hours emergency service for veterinary practices in and around Glasgow.

Operations and Facilities Assistant role

  • Work with the Hospital Director to facilitate the smooth running of the hospital using best practice to improve efficiency, by reducing operating costs whilst increasing productivity
  • Supports achievement of operational standards across the Hospital
  • To ensure that Health and Safety requirements are met and maintained across the Hospital

Key Priorities

  • Support with Contractor visits and operational planned maintenance on site
  • Regularly inform the Hospital Director, Clinical Nurse Manager and wider team of upcoming maintenance and operational issues
  • Overseeing the general upkeep and maintenance of the building and outside areas
  • Ensuring the building and equipment meets health and safety requirements and our facilities comply with legislation
  • Ensuring the hospital meets any energy efficiency targets set by the government and continually investigating ways to ensure the hospital is being as energy efficient as possible and complies with any current or future legislation.
  • Meeting the operational budget set for the hospital as communicated by the Hospital Manager

The successful candidate in this role will:-

  • Be able to develop good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Show commitment to professional and ethical standards
  • Be analytical and interested in process and operational functions
  • Have financial acumen to support sound decision making
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all external contractors to ensure sound resolution of any concerns/issues

Working pattern

Typically, Monday to Friday from 08:00/09:00, 8 hours per day. Flexibility is required in line with the needs of the hospital and contractor visits.
